The Distance Education Laboratory for People with Disabilities (LE@D) was created by the multinational Dell Computadores, in Fortaleza, through a partnership with the State University of Ceará, to research and develop distance education solutions that increase employability opportunities of people with disabilities in Brazil. Our team is made up of a multidisciplinary team of researchers, systems analysts, software testing analysts, developers, accessibility specialists, Libras translators and interpreters, people with disabilities who carry out all the software tests, among other professionals who all share the same goal: to change the social and economic reality of Brazil through an education accessible to all.

As a result of our work, we created the distance learning platform Dell Accessible Learning, with a number of professional courses and tools that facilitate students learning and make teaching accessible for people with physical, hearing and vision impairments. New tools are being researched and developed to increasingly extend the accessibility of the platform and its content to other disability profiles, such as for people with blindness and people with quadriplegia.

To help our students in the learning process, we have created an Android application that ensures mobility and increased interactivity in accessing the platform and communicating with students and teachers. All solutions developed are tested by a group of people with disabilities who assess the quality and accessibility of the products.
